SupportSyndicate + Stripe

Surface Stripe billing data in support conversations — subscription status, invoices, and payment issues in one inbox.

SupportSyndicate's Stripe integration pulls subscription status, invoice history, payment method, and upcoming renewal dates into the conversation sidebar for every ticket from a paying customer. Agents answering billing questions see the full Stripe context — active plan, last invoice amount, failed payment count, and cancellation date if applicable — without opening Stripe in a separate tab. For SaaS teams handling billing and support from the same inbox, this eliminates the most common agent context-switching bottleneck.

What data flows between the two systems

Every event, record, and update that passes between SupportSyndicate and Stripe.

Subscription statusSS receives

Active, trialing, past_due, canceled, and paused Stripe subscription status displays in the conversation sidebar for the matched customer.

Invoice historySS receives

The last 5 invoices — amount, date, status, and payment method — appear inline so agents can answer 'why was I charged?' questions without opening Stripe.

Failed payment detailsSS receives

Failed payment count, most recent decline reason (card declined, insufficient funds, etc.), and retry date surface in the sidebar for proactive agent outreach.

Plan and pricingSS receives

The customer's current plan name, billing interval, and next renewal date display so agents can answer upgrade, downgrade, and cancellation questions with full context.

Churn risk taggingSS sends

Customers with past_due or canceled subscriptions are automatically tagged in SupportSyndicate for priority routing and sentiment monitoring.

How to set up the Stripe integration

Most teams are live in under 15 minutes. No developer required.

01

Connect Stripe API key

In SupportSyndicate Dashboard → Integrations → Stripe, paste your Stripe Restricted API Key with read permissions on Customers, Subscriptions, and Invoices.

02

Map the email identifier

SupportSyndicate matches Stripe customers by email. Confirm the email field used in your Stripe customer records matches the email field in SupportSyndicate conversations.

03

Configure sidebar display

Choose which Stripe fields appear in the conversation sidebar: subscription status, invoice count, last payment amount, and/or next renewal date.

04

Set churn-risk routing rules

In Workflow Rules, create a rule that routes conversations from past_due or canceled customers to your senior agent queue automatically.

What teams use this integration for

Billing question resolution

Agents answer 'why was I charged?' and 'when is my renewal?' without opening Stripe — Stripe data appears inline in the conversation sidebar.

Failed payment proactive outreach

Customers with a failed payment and an open ticket get a proactive agent message: 'We noticed your payment didn't go through — here's how to update your card.'

Cancellation intent routing

When a customer mentions canceling, the AI checks Stripe subscription status and routes the conversation to the retention specialist queue, not the general support queue.

Upgrade conversation context

Agents handling upgrade inquiries see the customer's current plan and billing interval, enabling accurate upgrade pricing quotes without switching tools.

Frequently asked questions

Can SupportSyndicate process Stripe refunds?

Not in the current integration — the Stripe connection is read-only for billing context. Refund processing for Shopify and WooCommerce orders is handled through those native integrations. Stripe refund execution is on the roadmap for SaaS billing teams.

Which Stripe objects does the integration read?

The integration reads Customers, Subscriptions, Invoices, and PaymentIntents. It does not read PaymentMethods (card numbers) — only the last 4 digits and card type that Stripe exposes in the Customer object.

Does this integration work for one-time payment products or only subscriptions?

Both. Subscription status and renewal dates apply to subscription products. For one-time payments, the integration surfaces Invoice history and PaymentIntent status so agents can answer questions about specific purchases.
